Wilhelm Karl King

Wilhelm Karl König , usually only Wilhelm König (born June 27, 1935 in Tübingen ) in publications , is a German author .

Life

König grew up in the district of Kappishäuser in Neuffen and in Dettingen an der Erms . After eight years of elementary school in Dettingen, he began an apprenticeship as a carpenter, which he completed in 1954. A short time later he lost his left hand in an accident at work. He then studied literature and history autodidactically and retrained to become a technical draftsman in Heidelberg in 1961 . 1963 to 1964 he studied at the literature institute "Johannes R. Becher" (today the German Literature Institute Leipzig ). He made several study trips to Eastern Europe , where parts of his writings are available in translations. Today he lives in Reutlingen and Bad Schussenried and is head of the dialect library that he set up in 1999 in the New Monastery there . He is also the founder and chairman of the Württemberg dialect society, which was founded in Reutlingen in 1978, and has been the publisher of the “schwädds” magazine since 1980. Since 1958 he has published Standard German and Swabian. He has also been organizing public events in Baden-Württemberg and beyond since 1975 . The best known are the Reutlingen Dialect Weeks , which he has been holding since 1976. König is married to Manuela König and has two sons and two grandchildren.
