from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ludwig Uhland Prize was founded in 1991 by Carl Herzog von Württemberg . In line with the namesake Ludwig Uhland (1787–1862), it is intended to honor people who

  • who with their work have made a significant contribution to the understanding of the culture of Württemberg or the German south-west;
  • who have submitted important studies about Ludwig Uhland or who have distinguished themselves in one of Uhland's fields of work;

The Ludwig Uhland Prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. Since 2001, a sponsorship award has also been awarded, endowed with 5,000 euros. A jury selects the award winners for whom an application is not possible.

The award ceremony takes place every two years on Ludwig Uhland's birthday, April 26th, in the Ordenssaal of Ludwigsburg Palace. In 2011, due to the Easter holidays, the award was rescheduled to April 29th.
