Hans-Georg Wehling

Hans-Georg Wehling (born January 4, 1938 in Essen ) is a German political scientist . He is a board member of the European Center for Research on Federalism at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and an honorary professor specializing in regional studies , regional politics and local politics at the Institute for Political Science there .

Life

Wehling studied German , history and political science at the universities of Münster , Freiburg im Breisgau , Heidelberg and Tübingen . In Freiburg he became a member of the Catholic student association K.St.V. Neuenfels and in Tübingen the K.St.V. Rechberg, both in KV . At the beginning of 1969 he started at the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Tübingen with a dissertation on the subject of “The political will-formation in the field of wine industry. Until 2003, Wehling was head of the publication department at the State Center for Political Education in Baden-Württemberg . There he was, among other things, responsible for the editorial support of the magazine “Der Bürger im Staat” and founded the book series “Writings on political regional studies of Baden-Württemberg” .

Wehling played a key role in the formulation of the Beutelsbach Consensus (1976), which to this day defines the minimum didactic requirements for teaching political education as a school subject .

In 2003 Wehling received the Ludwig-Uhland-Preis donated by Carl Herzog von Württemberg , because Wehling - as stated by the independent jury - "described the development of the regions of Baden-Württemberg in an outstanding way in numerous publications and also explored other aspects in depth politics, especially local politics ".

In April 2010 Wehling was awarded the Federal Republic of Germany's Cross of Merit on Ribbon .
