Dominik Kuhn (pseudonym: Dodokay ; born September 16, 1969 in Reutlingen ) is a German producer, director, voice artist, comedian, musician and translator. He is the owner of Starpatrol Entertainment .

life and career

Dominik Kuhn grew up in Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg and graduated from high school there in 1989. While still at school, he founded a company for event technology and at the same time worked as a presenter and sound engineer for the Reutlingen regional radio broadcaster Radio RT4 , and as a disc jockey in the Tübingen zoo . He sold the technical equipment of his company in the mid-1990s and from then on worked as a self-employed live sound engineer and later as an event manager and producer, mainly for company events. At the same time he set up a recording studio. At the turn of the millennium he also offered film production as a service. As part of this activity, he produced numerous advertising and three less successful no-budget feature films.

In addition, he works as an actor and model for various advertising campaigns and film and television productions. In 2009 and 2010 he played in the twelve-part television series Laible and Frisch , as well as in the 2017 movie. In 2012 he was in a guest role at the side of Natalia Wörner in the Swabian dialect comedy The Church stays in the village and also plays in the first season of the television series of the same name, which was broadcast in 2013. He also played in the 2014 movie Global Player - Where We Are Isch Front .

As an avid science fiction reader, he has also been working as a translator of science fiction literature since 1999 . As such, he mainly works for the Stuttgart-based Panini-Verlag , for which he translates almost all Star Wars youth books as well as other book series and single novels (e.g. for the TV series 24 and the trading card game Magic: The Gathering ) into German Has. Kuhn became known to a broader public in 2006 under his Internet user name Dodokay through his first work on online video portals such as u. A. In January 2008, copyright problems led to the deletion of Kuhn's YouTube user account at the time, but he uploaded the previously existing films to a new account. In the spring of 2008, SWR television became aware of him, and so Kuhn has been writing and producing the television series Die Welt auf Schwäbisch since the beginning of 2009 and a weekly column under the same program title for the SWR state show Baden-Württemberg. While he dubbed a mixture of feature films, tabloids and talk programs as well as news in Swabian in the series, which has so far comprised seven episodes (as of May 2010), the Landesschau column, which was broadcast until January 2010, turned meetings of the German Bundestag into a board meeting of the fictional club "SV 49 from Leimerstetten" cut and dubbed. From May to July 2011, Kuhn was irregularly represented with a Swabian synchro column in the newly launched weekly show on Sat.1 . In 2012, the state show format was slightly changed in SWR and continued with twelve episodes, this time Kuhn himself being seen in fictional interviews with Swabian dubbed stars, undercut with street surveys. Since December 2012, Kuhn and Chako Habekost have been a member of the two-person jury team in the SWR dialect quiz show Do you understand what? , moderated by Guido Cantz . He went on stage for the first time on March 29, 2014 with a live comedy show and has been on tour with it ever since.

In 2009, Kuhn worked as a Swabian dialect coach for the remake of the Jerry Cotton novels with Christian Tramitz and Christian Ulmen - he taught Heino Ferch in Swabian dialect as part of the production , as he played a criminal from Stuttgart in the film. In addition, Kuhn speaks the role of a Swabian ghost in an episode of the radio play series Hui Buh . In the German version of the 2016 Belgian comedy I am dead, make something of it , he speaks one of the main roles, in this case with a Flemish or Dutch accent. Dominik Kuhn lives in Reutlingen and works alongside his career as a comedian as a film author and director.
