Höfen an der Enz is a municipality in the Calw district in Baden-Württemberg . It belongs to the Northern Black Forest region . Apart from the village of the same name, no other villages belong to the municipality of Höfen an der Enz.

Höfen is located in the Enz Valley in the northern Black Forest at an altitude of 360 to 712 meters, below the confluence of the Große Enz and the Kleine Enz. 85% of the area of the municipality is forested.

In the north, Höfen borders the Enzkreis . To the east to the community of Schömberg . In the south at Bad Wildbad . And in the west to Dobel .

history

The first traditional name of the place is "zu Hof" (locus dictus zu dem Hofe in a document dated July 26, 1376), to the courts.

At Württemberg, Höfen came with Neuenbürg . Previously administered by a lawyer, it was not until the middle of the 19th century that the town became its own mayor's office and an independent community.

Courtyards by the Enztalbahn ( Pforzheim -bath Wildbad), today the line S 6 of the rail Karlsruhe , connected to the national railway network. There are hourly trams on the S6 to Bad Wildbad and Pforzheim, some of which are connected via Pforzheim to Bietigheim-Bissingen or Wörth.

Höfen is located on the federal highway 294 ( Bretten –Pforzheim– Freiburg ), the nearest motorway is the federal motorway 8 near Pforzheim, 17 kilometers away .

education

There is a primary school in Höfen . Older students are taught in neighboring towns (e.g. Bad Wildbad ). There are further secondary schools in Pforzheim and Calw .
