Ostelsheim is located on the extreme border of the Black Forest . It is protected from storms and surrounded by hills and forests. Around a quarter of the 923 hectare marked area consists of forest.

The municipality of Ostelsheim includes the village of Ostelsheim and the place sawmill.
history
The place is an Alemannic foundation probably from the 4th century AD. In 1357 the place came together with Böblingen to the county of Württemberg.
The two world wars of the 20th century claimed 97 people missing and fallen from the community.
As part of the state of Württemberg-Hohenzollern, the place came to the newly founded state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952 . Even after the regional reform in 1975, the Ostelsheim community retained its independence.

Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
No federal road runs through the municipality , but federal road 295 ( Stuttgart - Calw ) is three kilometers north of Ostelsheim near Simmozheim . The closest motorway junction is Böblingen-Hulb on federal motorway 81 , about twelve kilometers to the south-east.
Ostelsheim is on the Württemberg Black Forest Railway , which comes from Stuttgart via Weil der Stadt to the municipality and then continues to Calw. However, as a result of the closure of the section between Weil der Stadt and Calw for freight traffic in 1988, the municipality was finally decoupled from the rail network, after the section had already been closed for passenger traffic in 1983. The nearest train station is now about three kilometers away in Weil der Stadt. From there buses run regularly via Ostelsheim to Calw. However, the district is currently planning to reactivate the railway line under the name Hermann-Hesse-Bahn , for this purpose the loop around Hacksberg near Schafhausen is to be shortened by a tunnel to be built by mining, the so-called "Ostelsheimer curve".
Water supply
The Ostelsheim community gets its drinking water from the Black Forest Water Supply Association, of which it has been a member since 1976. A water supply contract with the association had already existed since 1972.
Christian religions
Ostelsheim has been Protestant since the Reformation. The Protestant parish, part of the Calw-Nagold church district in the Evangelical Church in Württemberg , has its home in the centrally located late Gothic village church from 1488. The rectory and the parish hall in the former Zehntscheuer are in the immediate vicinity. The Reformation was introduced in Ostelsheim in 1546, the motto of which adorns the sound cover of the pulpit in the church: "The word of our God remains forever". The pulpit painting from 1751 with Christ and the globe in the middle of the four evangelists as well as the paintings on the gallery parapet adorn the nave. Professor Rudolf Yelin the Elder J. created the stained glass in the choir window in 1961 (Descent from the Cross / Entombment, Resurrection, Heavenly Jerusalem) and thus replaced a work by his father Rudolf Yelin the Elder. Ä. from the beginning of the 20th century.
From a Catholic point of view, Ostelsheim belongs to the parish of St. Leonhard Dätzingen, the parish maintains a parish hall in Ostelsheim.
