Wilhelm Kolle

Wilhelm Kolle (born November 2, 1868 in Lerbach , † May 10, 1935 in Wiesbaden ) was a German hygienist and bacteriologist .

The medical doctor Kolle was Robert Koch's employee from 1893 to 1906 and during this time developed, among other things, the vaccinations against cholera and typhus (1896). He then worked at the Institute for Research on Infectious Diseases in Bern . From 1917 to 1935 he was director of the State Institute for Experimental Therapy founded by Paul Ehrlich (now the Paul Ehrlich Institute ) and the Georg Speyer House in Frankfurt am Main .

He was married to Helene Alwine Brigl and was the father of Kurt Kolle and Helmut Kolle (Helmut vom Hügel), as well as the grandfather of Oswalt Kolle .

Since the winter semester 1887/88, Kolle was a member of the Cheruscia Göttingen gymnastics club .

In 1932 he became a member of the Leopoldina in the "Pathology" section .
