August Wilhelm Nethe

August Wilhelm Nethe (born March 6, 1812 in Altenplathow ; † May 28, 1901 in Magdeburg ) was a German politician .

Life

Born as the son of a businessman, Nethe attended the convent school Our Dear Women in Magdeburg and from 1830 studied law in Halle . During his studies in 1830 he became a member of the old Halle fraternity . He was reprimanded by the university for having participated in a duel . From October 1832 he did his one-year service in the military, which he did with the 32nd Infantry Regiment in Halle and in the Landwehr . In 1834 he passed his auscultator examination and became an auscultator at the Magdeburg Regional and City Court and Inquisitorial Office. In the same year he was arrested for membership in the fraternity and taken to the Berlin bailiwick for arrest . From there he was in 1835 in imprisonment in the fortress of Glatz and 1836 by Fort Winiary , Fort poses. In 1836 he was sentenced to death by the ax , which four months later was converted to 30 years imprisonment by royal order and shortened to ten years in 1838. In 1840 he was dismissed due to a general amnesty by Friedrich Wilhelm IV . He finished his legal clerkship in 1841 and passed his third legal exam in Berlin in 1843 .

In 1843 he became assessor at the Magdeburg Higher Regional Court and assistant to the revision board for the province of Saxony . In 1844 he was temporarily employed as a police advisor in the Magdeburg police headquarters. In 1844 he was elected mayor of Burg and left the judiciary in 1845. In the revolution of 1848/49 he was elected a member of the Prussian National Assembly in the Jerichow I constituency, where he joined the center faction. In 1857 and 1868 he was re-elected as mayor of Burg. In 1868 he became mayor and was given the right to wear the golden chain of office. In 1881 he retired. From 1876 to 1881 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Saxony .

His son was Paul Nethe .

August Wilhelm Nethe was buried in the old cemetery in Burg.
