Paul Martin Wilhelm Nethe (born November 11, 1849 in Burg (near Magdeburg) , † July 20, 1926 in Wernigerode ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Nethes father August Wilhelm Nethe (1812-1901) was Lord Mayor of Burg from 1845 to 1881. Paul Nethe studied law in Heidelberg from the winter semester of 1868/69 (member of the Corps Rhenania ), before completing his studies he did his service as a one-year volunteer with Infantry Regiment No. 56 in Göttingen .

In the same regiment in 1870/71 during the war against France a . a. participated in the battles near Metz , Beaune-la-Rolande , Vendôme and La Maas . After the peace agreement , he remained an active officer, was Prime Lieutenant in the General Staff and was used several times during his service for trips to Russia. From October 18, 1900 to July 6, 1901, Nethe was in command of Infantry Regiment No. 174 in Metz . He was then assigned to lead the 58th Infantry Brigade in Mulhouse and was appointed commander of this brigade on November 14, 1901 while being promoted to major general . On 24 April 1904 Nethe was awarded the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory board for disposition made.

After his departure, Nethe moved to Berlin. In the First World War he was reactivated and initially assigned to the headquarters in Charleville-Mézières . From there he came to the stage inspection in Opole. Most recently he was leader of the 18th Landwehr Division . Upon his final retirement, he was given the character of General of the Infantry.

Awards

Nethe was u. a. Awarded the Commander's Cross 1st Class of the Order of the Zähringer Lion and the Waldeck Order of Merit 2nd Class (1900).
