Appreciation

He is said to have been an authoritarian personality and demanded a precision from the musicians that produced a brilliant and often almost opulent sound development and made him an excellent orchestral teacher. The Dortmund Philharmonic experienced a significant leap in quality under his leadership.

Discography

He made numerous concert recordings (Philharmonia Orchestra, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie) and operatic cross-cuts, mainly in German with the most important German artists of his time ( Erna Berger , Elisabeth Grümmer , Erika Köth , Gottlob Frick , Rudolf Schock ), especially for EMI .
See the extensive entry in the catalog of the German Music Archive below. In addition, there are numerous productions with him in the archives of German broadcasters, namely NDR and WDR.
