Willi Wrenger
Wilhelm Wrenger (born April 15, 1938 in Essen ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Wrenger began his football career at ESV Essen . In 1958 he went to Rot-Weiss Essen . In 1959 he played for the first time in the first team of the Red and White in the Oberliga West . A year later he moved to 1. FC Köln . In 1961 he moved on to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen before moving to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1963 when the Bundesliga started . After he left the Palatinate in 1967, he went to the USA for a year with the St. Louis Stars in 1968 , where he was allowed to compete against the legendary Pelé and his Santos FC with the team trained by Rudi Gutendorf . Back in Germany , he worked for DJK Gütersloh in the second-rate Regionalliga West (37/5) from 1969 to 1971 and 1971/72 at FC Homburg in the Regionalliga Südwest (13/4).
The trained steel construction fitter later also worked as an amateur trainer and lived in Kaiserslautern.
