Wilhelm von Kleist († December 1605 ), was the ducal Pomeranian governor of Stolp and Schlawe .

Life

Wilhelm von Kleist was a member of the behind Pomeranian noble family von Kleist and son of Jacob von Kleist († ca. 1546), Pomeranian Council, hereditary lord on Vietzow and Poberow and also Bublitz and Anna von der Osten adH Woldenburg.

From 1557 he was master of the Vietzow share from his father's inheritance. Together with his siblings, he had a chapel built on site for mass on Sundays and public holidays .

When, on July 30, 1571, in the course of the engagement of Duke Johann Friedrich von Pomerania to the daughter of the Brandenburg Elector Johann Georg, the right of repudiation was established for the Neumark , Löcknitz and Vierraden , Wilhelm von Kleist acted as a documentary witness to this important inheritance contract.

From 1573 to 1586 and again from 1599 to 1603 he held the post of captain of Belgard . In the meantime, from 1586 to 1599, he was promoted to Landvogt von Stolp and Schlawe and as such also a representative of the estates in the state parliament.

In 1590 the Duke left a hereditary house in Belgard to him and his wife. 1591 he was charged with two farms in Bulgrin and four farms in Pumlow fief , which he had partly acquired already 1590th

Before 1590 he married Barbara von Kameke , daughter of the Pomeranian council and heir to Lassehne Achatius von Kameke and Christine von Borcke adH Regenwalde . The marriage resulted in four sons and two daughters.

On February 1, 1598, Wilhelm von Kleist took part as a Pomeranian envoy in the funeral procession at the funeral of the Elector of Brandenburg Johann Georg. In the funeral procession he and Georg von Bruchwitz accompanied the youngest daughter (from 1st marriage) of Duke Franz II (Saxony-Lauenburg) Catharina Ursula.
