Willi Bösl
Willi Bösl (* July 6, 1920 in Hirschau ; † August 9, 2014 ) was mayor of Hirschau, holder of the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon , holder of the municipal medal of merit and honorary citizen of the city of Hirschau.
Life
Bösl was born on July 6, 1920 as the first of six children of master shoemaker Georg Bösl and his wife Margarete. Bishop Eduard Bösl was his brother. After leaving school, he learned the shoemaking trade in his parents' business and acquired a journeyman's certificate. As an elder, he was to take over the parental farm one day. During the Second World War he was on the march to Stalingrad as a Wehrmacht corporal on June 26, 1942 with the 6th Army, when he was so badly wounded that his left arm had to be removed. After his recovery, he attended the teacher training college in Bayreuth and, after passing his exam, was employed in Hirschau, but soon decided on a different career. He graduated from the administration school in Tutzing , came to the Amberg district office and headed the social welfare office there.
Bösl married Betty Bösl on January 13, 1947 , and this marriage resulted in two daughters. Theresia, one of the two daughters, is married to Werner Schulz , a local politician and holder of the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon from Hirschau.
Political activity
Bösl's local political path began in 1956 with his election to the city council, where he acted as spokesman for the CSU parliamentary group until his election as the first CSU mayor of Hirschau in 1958. In the local elections in 1960, 1966, 1972 and 1978 he was confirmed in office. After retiring from the mayor's office for reasons of age in 1984, he was a city councilor in Hirschau for another period from 1984 to 1990.
Bösl was a member of the district council from 1960 to 1984. As a newcomer to the district council, he took over the chairmanship of the CSU parliamentary group in 1960. For 21 years he was the first deputy of the district administrator in the Altlandkreis Amberg (1963 to 1972) and in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach (1972 to 1984), and for many years he was the deputy chairman of the regional planning association and a member and deputy chairman of the board of directors of Kreissparkasse. When he said goodbye in 1984, District President Karl Krampol stated: "Willi Bösl has made Hirschau more lovable and worth living in and a small model town". In the district council elections he achieved top marks every time.
Awards
In 1968 Bösl was awarded the Municipal Medal of Merit, and in 1978 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from Federal President Walter Scheel .
1978 Bösl received the "Golden Citizen Medal" from the city of Hirschau.
The district council of the district of Amberg-Sulzbach recognized Bösl's achievements in 1984 with the award of the "Great Ring of Honor", the highest honor that the district of Amberg-Sulzbach has to bestow. Apart from Willi Bösl, this honor was only given to the two district administrators, Hans Raß and Hans Wagner .
Bösl had been an honorary citizen of the city of Hirschau since 1984 and since 1985 he has been allowed to bear the title of former mayor.
Since 1995 the main access road in the residential area "Heidenau" in Hirschau has been called "Bürgermeister-Bösl-Straße".
