Willi Maier (born September 12, 1948 in Undingen ) is a former German obstacle and long-distance runner .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he was eliminated over 3000 m obstacle in the preliminary run.

In 1973 he failed at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Rotterdam over 3000 m in the first round and was second over 3000 m obstacle at the European Athletics Cup in Edinburgh .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he did not get beyond the preliminary round over 3000 m obstacle again.

In 1980 he finished 81st at the World Cross Country Championships in Paris . In 1983 and 1986 he won the Tübingen Nikolauslauf .

In 1973 he became German cross-country champion and German champion over 3000 m obstacle . He was also the German indoor champion over 3000 m that year . With SV Salamander Kornwestheim , he was German champion in the 4 x 800 meter relay in 1975 .

Willi Maier started for TSV Genkingen until 1973 , then for SV Salamander Kornwestheim .
