William Hjortsberg
William Reinhold Hjortsberg (born February 23, 1941 in New York City , New York - † April 22, 2017 in Livingston , Montana ) was an American writer and screenwriter .
Life
William Hjortsberg graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor at Dartmouth College and broke the following year his studies at the Yale School of Drama from. However, he was able to study successfully at Stanford University from 1967 to 1968 as a Stegner Fellow . In 1969 he made his debut as a writer with the novel Alp and in 1977 as a screenwriter with the adventure film Wie Blitz und Donner . He continued to write novels such as Gray Matters , Symbiography, and his greatest hit, Falling Angel . His works have been translated into several languages, including Russian, German, Hebrew, Japanese, and Korean. In 1987 Falling Angel was filmed under the title Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro - Hjortsberg worked on the script.
Hjortsberg was married to Janie Camp, a painter.
