William League

William Liga (actually Viliame Bale League; born June 11, 1932 in Cakaudrove , Northern Division , † 1986 in Brisbane , Australia ) was a Fijian javelin thrower .

At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games he was eighth in Vancouver in 1954 , fifth in Cardiff in 1958 and sixth in Perth in 1962 .

In 1968 he retired from qualifying at the Olympic Games in Mexico City .

At the South Pacific Games he won bronze in Suva in 1963 and silver in the javelin in Nouméa in 1966 . In 1969 in Port Moresby , he won bronze in the javelin and discus throw .

His national record in the javelin throw of 72.08 m, which he set in 1966, lasted until the introduction of the new model in 1988.
