The DB Communications GmbH (DB KT) is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn , which services in the fields of security -, machine -, information and communication technology (ICT) and information and offers media management. DB Kommunikationstechnik acts as a service provider within the DB Group and is also increasingly active as a service provider on the free market.

history

In the course of the rail reform in the mid-1990s, the telecommunications master offices of Deutsche Bahn AG were spun off into the subsidiary DBKom . In 1996, 49.8% of the company's shares were sold to a consortium of Mannesmann AG and Deutsche Bank AG and merged with Communications Network International GmbH (CNI) to form Arcor AG & Co. KG .

Some of the services and employees from DBKom were transferred back to DB AG in 1998 and bundled there in the Anlagen und Haus Service GmbH (AHS). After the establishment of a communication technology business unit at AHS and a change of name to DB Services Technische Dienst GmbH in 2002, technical facility management was later spun off into the newly formed DB Services GmbH in 2006 . In 2007, the remaining business units were renamed DB Kommunikationstechnik GmbH. In mid-2010, the area service (service technician, project department and network administration) was moved from DB Systel GmbH to DB Kommunikationstechnik GmbH, which, however, continues to take over their services through contractual coordination.

In 2002, the railway-related services that had remained in Arcor until then were transferred to a subsidiary Arcor DB Telematik GmbH and transferred back to DB AG in the same year as DB Telematik GmbH. In 2007, DB Telematik was merged with DB Systems GmbH to form DB Systel GmbH, from which the ICT Field Services GmbH business unit was separated three years later and merged with DB Kommunikationstechnik GmbH under company law and merged.
