William Martin Morris (born October 8, 1943 in Brisbane ) is Bishop Emeritus of Toowoomba in Australia .

Life

William Martin Morris received on 28 June 1969 by Bishop Henry Joseph Kennedy the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Brisbane .

On November 20, 1992, Morris was appointed Bishop of Toowoomba by Pope John Paul II . The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Edward Francis Kelly MSC on 10 February 1993. co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Brisbane, John Bathersby Alexius , and its predecessor, Francis Roberts Rush .

On November 17, 2006, Morris published a letter on the future of the priesthood of his diocese, mentioning the possibility of ordination for women , married men and the recognition of Lutheran ordinations, which contradicted the apostolic letter Ordinatio sacerdotalis of John Paul II. An apostolic visitation followed, presided over by the Archbishop of Denver , Charles Joseph Chaput . The Vatican announced on May 2, 2011 that Bishop Morris had been removed from office .
