William Leonard Pereira (born April 25, 1909 in Chicago - † November 13, 1985 in Los Angeles ) was an American architect with Portuguese roots who was known for his futuristic designs of buildings that could be seen from afar, such as the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco . He was known for his unmistakable architectural style, which was formative for the middle of the 20th century. On September 6, 1963, he was featured on the cover of TIME Magazine .
