William Russell Logan Bauld (born January 24, 1928 in Newtongrange , † March 11, 1977 ) was a Scottish football player .

Career

Willie Bauld was born in Newtongrange not far from Edinburgh in 1928 in the Scottish coalfield. He began his career with Newtongrange Star before playing with Heart of Midlothian from 1946 with a short break on loan to Edinburgh City until 1962 . Together with the attackers Alfie Conn Sr. and Jimmy Wardhaugh , Bauld formed the well-known Terrible Trio with the Hearts in the 1950s . With the Hearts he won two Scottish championships , once the Cup and three times the League Cup . He was also the top scorer in Scotland in 1950 and 1955 .

For the Hearts , he played a total of 510 competitive games and scored 355 goals.

In 2007, Bauld was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame .

National team

Willie Bauld made three appearances for the Scottish national team in 1950 . He made his debut on April 15, 1950 at Hampden Park in Glasgow against England . In his second international match against Switzerland , he scored the opening goal in a 3-1 win. Bauld made his last appearance for Scotland in May 1950 against Portugal , where he scored again.
