Winfried Hirschberger (* 6. February 1945 in Altendiez ) is a German politician ( SPD ), the 32-year the county Kusel ( Rheinland-Pfalz as) District board. Otto Rubly ( CDU ) was elected as his successor in 2017 .

Hirschberger is married, has two grown children and lives in Kusel.

Life

After graduating from high school in Limburg (Lahn) , Hirschberger studied law at the University of Mainz from 1964 to 1969 and then completed his training as a trainee lawyer. From 1972 he worked as a councilor in the administration of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. From 1982 to 1985 he was town and association mayor of Eisenberg ( Donnersbergkreis ) . In 1984 he did his doctorate at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer under Frido Wagener on the subject of citizens' access to state information .

Hirschberger has been the district administrator of the Kusel district since 1985, and was last re-elected in 2009 - for a fourth term until 2017. He is deputy chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate district council and chairman of the supervisory board of the West Palatinate Clinic in Kaiserslautern .

From 1979 to 1999 Hirschberger was a member of the Palatinate District Assembly , of which he was chairman from 1997 to 1999. From 1995 to 2004 he was deputy state chairman of the SPD Rhineland-Palatinate .

Use for Urweltmuseum

GEOSKOP Urweltmuseum

Hirschberger strongly advocated the GEOSKOP Urweltmuseum , which was opened in 1998 at Lichtenberg Castle near Kusel as a branch of the Palatinate Museum for Natural History . A 300 million year old primal reptile , the fossil remains of which were found in the nearby Remigiusberg Formation in 2002 , was given the scientific name Cryptovenator hirschbergeri in 2011 in honor of its sponsor . According to the museum, the find exhibited in the GEOSKOP is the oldest evidence of the occurrence of reptiles on the territory of Germany.
