Winnebach ( Italian Prato alla Drava ) is a village in South Tyrol in Italy . It is a fraction of the municipality of Innichen . The village is located in the Pustertal or Hochpustertal and has about 400 inhabitants. Since the Treaty of Saint-Germain came into force in 1920, the state border with Austria has been around 1 km east of the town.

Worth seeing

  • The pre-Romanesque and later Gothic expanded Winnebach parish church was first mentioned in 1507. A representation of the coronation of Mary the legend of Nicholas (around 1505) is still preserved as a fresco . The statue of St. New Year's Eve on the left side altar also dates from the 15th century. The rural Baroque altars, pulpit and confessionals date from the early 19th century. The wooden figures of the four chapel shrines and the free-standing crucifixion group in the cemetery were made around 1700.
  • Due to a miraculous image that the pilgrim Johann Klettenhammer brought with him from Loreto , the Loreto chapel was built next to his house and consecrated in 1650. The fact that the church is still standing, even though it has often been badly muddy by the Mittereggerbach and Mühlbach torrents (last in 1965), gives the population cause for pilgrimages.
  • The St. New Year's Eve Chapel in Winnebach, in pre-Romanesque style, was built around 1150. After an extension in 1440 it was consecrated the following year and in 1455 it was given indulgences by Cardinal Nikolaus Cusanus von Brixen . A cycle of paintings from a Brixen painting school, presumably by the " Meister von Klerant ", was made around 1450/1460.

Infrastructure

The place is dominated by the St. Nicholas Church from the 15th century, which stands on a hill above the place. Winnebach also includes the buildings on the border with the former border guard buildings. The Winnebach Volunteer Fire Brigade provides fire protection and general help .
