We are Germany
We are Germany ( WsD for short ) is a citizens' initiative that sees itself as an alternative language forum to Pegida and regularly organizes demonstrations in Bautzen , Dresden , Plauen and Schwedt . The movement was founded by Michael Oheim. In 2016 he withdrew from the initiative.
Events
A difference to Pegida demonstrations is the lack of posters, flags and “ We are the people ” and “ lying press ” chants at their events. From September 20, 2015 until 2016 there were regular demonstrations in Plauen and since November 15 in Bautzen . Further demonstrations by WsD started on November 29, 2015 in Dresden . The initiative is working on expanding its events to other cities. The events of the WsD usually take place on Mondays or Sundays.
Number of participants
The number of participants at WsD events differs in the respective cities, in the range around a hundred in Dresden, in Plauen, however, there were usually over a thousand participants. On November 8, 2015, according to the local police, over 4000 people took part in a WsD event, on other days 5000 people.
Speaker
On April 22, 2016, the WsD invited the CDU politician and former OSCE Vice President Willy Wimmer . Controversial speakers like Ken Jebsen were also invited.
