Witold Lanci

Witold Lanci (* 1829 in Warsaw ; † 1892 in Kalwaria near Suwałki ) was a Polish architect and representative of eclecticism , who worked mainly in Warsaw.

Life

Lanci was the Polish-born son of the Italian architect Francesco Maria Lanci . Like his father, he studied at the Luke Academy in Rome . In 1857 he returned to Poland and initially worked with his father. In 1860 he was awarded the title of “Master Builder II. Class”, in 1864 he was named “Master Builder III. Class ”and opened his own architecture studio.

His work was influenced by the Viennese architecture scene at the time, and often led to a mixture of different architectural styles such as B. that of the late Renaissance in France with that of Italy.

In Warsaw, Lanci built many tenement houses in the neo-renaissance and neo-baroque styles . These buildings were located on major streets such as Aleje Jerozolimskie (No. 33 and 55), Ulica Marszałkowska (No. 98, 138, 154 and 156) or Ulica Emilii Plater (No. 57).
