Withaya Laohakul or Witthaya Hloagune , also known as "Heang" ( Thai : วิทยา เลา ห กุล ; * February 1, 1954 in Lamphun Province , Thailand ) is a Thai soccer coach and former soccer player. He is currently the coach of FC Gainare Tottori in Japan . For the Thai national soccer team , he played more than 100 games.
career
He began his football career at FC Raj Pracha, a club from Bangkok .
When he moved to Hertha BSC in 1979 , he was the first Thai in the German Bundesliga . In total, he only made 33 league appearances at Hertha BSC in three years and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club in the 1979/80 season . After moving to 1. FC Saarbrücken , things went better for him and he made 53 league appearances in two years and scored seven goals. The greatest success during this time was the championship title in the Oberliga Südwest 1982/83 and the associated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. After his time in Saarbrücken, he first went back to Thailand and then made a longer stop in Japan. He went first as a player to Matsushita FC, later Gamba Osaka . In 1988 he became head coach there and was involved in the Gamba Osaka a founding member of the J. League . Back in Thailand in 1996, he took over FC Bangkok Bank and led the club to two championships and the AFC Champions League . In 1997 he was even voted Coach of the Year. In 2004 he took over Chonburi FC and led it from the second Thai division to the first division and straight to 8th place.
Angry about the Thai Football Association, which failed to provide professional structures, he turned his back on Thailand and went back to Japan. There he took over Gainare Tottori , a club from the third division, with the task of leading the club in the J. League .
