Vyacheslav Ivanovich Klokow ( Russian Вячеслав Иванович Клоков ; born September 2, 1959 ) is a former Soviet weightlifter .

Personal

Klokow is the father of the Russian weightlifter Dmitri Klokow (* 1983).

Athletic career

Klokow's international career consisted of just three competitions, the World and European Championships from 1981 to 1983, each of which was held as one event.

In 1981 he made his first appearance in Lille . In the 2nd heavyweight up to 110 kg he was able to take second place with 410.0 kg (185.0 / 225.0 kg) behind Valeri Krawchuk with 415.0 kg. In snatch he won his first world and European championship with 185.0 kg.

At his second World Cup in Ljubljana in 1982 , Klokow had to be content with second place. Although he increased to 427.5 kg (190.0 / 237.5 kg) and thus achieved the same result as Sergei Arakelow , this was almost 2 kg lighter than Klokow.

Klokow's last international competition was the 1983 World Championships in Moscow, where he won all three gold medals with a total of four world records and a duel result of 440.0 kg (192.5 / 247.5 kg). With this performance Klokow distanced himself by 30 kg and 40 kg respectively on the runners-up József Jacsó and Anton Baraniak .

After completing his active career, in which he set a total of seven world records, Klokow was, among other things, Vice President of the European Weightlifting Association and a member of the Technical Committee of the World Association IMF . He is a member of the Weightlifting Hall of Fame .
