Vladimir Vladimirovich Golitsyn

Wladimir Wladimirowitsch Golitsyn ( Russian Владимир Владимирович Голицын ; born February 27, 1947 in Moscow ) is a Russian lawyer and since October 1, 2008 a judge at the International Tribunal for the Sea . From October 1, 2014 to October 1, 2017 he was its President.

Life

Golitsyn, from the Russian princely house of Galitzin , studied at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations , where he obtained his diploma in 1970. From 1975 to 1981 he worked there as a lecturer and at the same time as an official in the Foreign Ministry of the former Soviet Union . In 1982 he moved to the United Nations staff in New York , where he worked as a legal advisor in various departments until 2007. In 1988, Golitsyn graduated from the Academy of Foreign Affairs with a doctorate in law . Since 2007 he has been professor of international law at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations.

In addition to his membership in the Russian department of the International Law Commission , Golitsyn has been a member of the Russian Association for International Maritime Law since 2007.

Since October 1st, 2008 he has been a judge at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg . From October 1, 2014 to October 1, 2017 he was its President.
