Where are you dear (Original title: russisch Где ты, любовь? / Gde ty ljubow ) is a Romanian - Soviet film from 1981. On January 1, 1980 the film came out in the Soviet Union. In 2002, the official video version of the film was released by ARENA Corporation .

content

The film is about a group of young pop musicians who are on their way from an amateur band to a professional band. In this way they develop their own style and songs.

The predominant plot is shaped by the songs (sung by Sofia Rotaru ) and landscape recordings of the Moldau landscape and the Black Sea . Here the life of a farmer is shown in an epic breadth.

production

The shooting of the film began in Chișinău , Moldova. The then Soviet film star Sofie Rotaru was selected to take on the leading role. It soon became clear, however, that Rotaru was playing himself in the semi-documentary, semi-autobiographical film. The film was initially planned as a musical film, in the course of which Rotaru was hired as a well-known Soviet singer. About this producer Gajiu:

“Honestly, where are you, love? a fundamentally new type of film for me. Actually I wanted to make a musical film called The Year of Vocation , also with Sofia Rotaru in the lead role. But the Goskino [Note: USSR State Committee for Cinematography] decided otherwise. I remember being told, 'Make a film about Rotaru, otherwise your film will not be approved.' […] By then the work on The Year of Vocation had already started, so we didn't even have a script for the Rotaru film. […] There are indeed some similarities between the lead role and Sofia Rotaru: country girl, teacher, soloist in a band. "

Ultimately, the script was rewritten in such a way that the management was also satisfied. It was to be the first full-fledged film drama about Rotaru. While Rotaru was on tour in Odessa , she gave her approval for the project and interrupted her tour. The shooting of the film started with a well-known acting ensemble , although originally conceived as a musical, including Grigore Grigoriu, Yevgeny Menischow and Viktor Tschutak . The film was shot in Moldova , on the Crimean peninsula and in Odessa.
