Church in Wola Rakowa

Wola Rakowa is a village in Poland in the Łódź Voivodeship . The village forms a Schulzenamt ( sołectwo ) in the municipality of Brójce in the powiat Łódzki wschodni .

history

The name of the village is probably derived from a personal name. One theory is the derivation of Rakusa , a former owner of the village. He had given up parts of his property with the aim of establishing localities. Another possibility is the derivation of Rakow , the name of a Russian officer.

The village of Wola Rakowa and the church were built between 1415 and 1466.

In September 1939 the village was occupied by the German Wehrmacht and later renamed Freireken . The occupation lasted until the Red Army marched in in January 1945.
