Wolf Klinz (born September 13, 1941 in Vienna ) is a former MEP for the FDP in the ALDE parliamentary group .

Wolf Klinz was the chairman of the Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis (CRIS), a full member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and deputy for the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN). He was vice chairman of the delegation for relations with Canada and a member of the delegation for relations with the countries of Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Life

Wolf Klinz studied economics in Paris , Madrid and Berlin , in 1963 he graduated with the degree in business administration at the University of Economics (now University of Economics) in Vienna, in 1965 followed there promotion to Dr. oec and in 1966 he also obtained an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau . From 1966 to 1970 he was an assistant and district sales manager in the automotive industry in the United Kingdom , Germany and the United States . This was followed by employment until 1981 as a project manager and partner at McKinsey & Company, Inc in the United Kingdom, Germany and France . For the next three years he was managing director of VEGLA Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbH in Germany. From 1984 to 1990 he was a member of the management team at Landis & Gyr AG in Switzerland.

After reunification, he joined the board of the Treuhandanstalt in Berlin in 1990 . After the dissolution of the Treuhandanstalt, he went back to the board of directors in industrial companies in plant construction and process automation. From the end of 2000 to 2004 he was honorary president of the Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Industry and Commerce and chairman of the Hessian Chambers of Commerce and Industry as well as a member of the board of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Berlin. In 2003 and 2004 Wolf Klinz was Vice President of Eurochambres in Brussels . From 2004 to 2014 he was a member of the European Parliament . After initially failing to return to the European Parliament in the 2014 European elections, he replaced his party friend Michael Theurer on November 6, 2017 , who had resigned his mandate because of his election to the German Bundestag . Since he had not run in the 2019 European elections , he subsequently resigned from the European Parliament.

Supervisory board mandates

Wolf Klinz has held various supervisory board mandates since 1982. He is currently on the supervisory board of Zumtobel AG ( Dornbirn / Austria ), AVECO AG in Frankfurt am Main and is a member of the group advisory board of IVG Immobilien AG ( Bonn / Germany).

Awards

Wolf Klinz received the medal of honor from the Goethe University in 2003 and the plaque of honor from the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004 . Since 2005 he has also been the holder of the Great Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria. In 2009 he was awarded the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany.
