Wolffenschild , also Wolffenschildt or Wulffenschildt , in Sweden : Wolffensköld , or Wolffenskjöld , is a Livonian- Swedish, extinct noble family .

history

The lineage of the lineage began in Riga with a long-established family of goldsmiths and mint masters: Martin Wulff (* approx. 1520, † 1588) as an army master, archbishop and finally municipal mint master. It was followed by his son and mint master Henrich Wulff (* approx. 1555, † 1614). His son Martin Wulff, (* approx. 1585, † 1633), became the owner of the mint in Riga in 1615 , and around 1617 he married Ursula Marquard, sister of Johann Marquard . In 1617 he received the Atzelmoise estate from King Gustav Adolf and in 1628 it was given to Jungfernhof. In 1623 he was also rent master . After his death, was elected to succeed in 1633, his brother Heinrich Wulff, (* around 1590, † 1659), as determined by the City of Riga and on 17 October 1646 the name Wolffensköld of Queen Christina in the Swedish nobility ennobled . In 1647 he was introduced to the knighthood of the Swedish aristocratic class (No. 366). In Livonia the family was called Wolffenschildt . Heinrich's great-grandson, Heinrich Erich von Wolffenschildt (* 1689; † 1771) enrolled in the Livonian knighthood in 1742 (no. 63) and 1745 or 1747 (no. 76) . With him, the sex died out in the male line on October 7, 1771.

The family coat of arms shows in gold a red-tongued, gray wolf growing out of a green hill in the lower left corner , who holds a red rose on a two-leaf green stem with his paws . On the helmet with blue-gold and blue-silver blankets between two silver armored arms holding a blue (occasionally also gold) sun, a red-tongued wolf's head growing out of the crown .
