Wolfgang A. Palm (born August 14, 1960 in Baden-Baden ) is a German opera and musical singer (tenor).

Life

He attended the Richard-Wagner-Gymnasium in his hometown. In 1978 Palm went to Salzburg to study classical singing at the Mozarteum there. Just two years later, Wolfgang A. Palm made his debut as a baritone at the Festspielhaus Salzburg at the age of 20 in the role of Count Lamoral in the opera Arabella . Engagements at the music stages of Bremerhaven , Coburg , Regensburg and others followed. In the first city, Palm sang the role of Giorgio Germont in the opera La traviata . The opera magazine Orpheus apostrophized the artist as the “youngest German singer in this role in the German-speaking countries”. To date, Wolfgang Brendel was the youngest interpreter of this role. The aforementioned sang Giorgio Germont at the age of 24 at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern . From 1985 to 1990 Palm was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Bavarian State Opera , where he mainly played in compression roles such as The War Messenger in Guntram , The Herold in Don Carlos and many other minor roles in modern operas. In 1988 Palm sang the role of Kinderschreck in a TV production of the Saarland Radio of the opera Die Zwei Pädagogen by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

The singer moved to Hamburg in 1990 for the German premiere of the musical Das Phantom der Oper . There he was on stage in over 1700 performances for six years. During this time he switched to the tenor voice . After his time in Hamburg, the artist sang on several German stages a. a. the lyric tenor roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte , Max in Der Freischütz and Lenski in Eugene Onegin . In 2003, Wolfgang A. Palm founded the artist agency DIE STIMME in Hamburg. In addition, from 1995 onwards, Palm was also active as a vocal teacher. His most important roles included the portrayals of Conte Almaviva, Germont, Posa, Masetto, Lilaque Fils ( Boulevard Solitude ), Ping, Peter Besenbinder, Mauleselmann, Dr. Falke, Count Homonay u. a.
