Wolfgang Baasch (born April 12, 1957 in Dänischenhagen ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life, job and volunteering

After graduating from secondary school in 1973, Baasch completed training as an educator , which he completed in 1977 with state recognition. He then worked as a teacher at a school for the mentally handicapped in Bad Schwartau until 1996 .

Since 2007, Baasch has been the state chairman of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) Schleswig-Holstein and a member of the board of the Lebenshilfe Lübeck.

Wolfgang Baasch has a son.

Political party

He has been a member of the SPD since 1979. From 1986 to 1987 he was deputy state chairman of the Jusos in Schleswig-Holstein . From 1994 to 2008 he was chairman of the SPD district association Lübeck and has been a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Schleswig-Holstein since 2007.

MP

From 1990 to April 1996 Baasch was a member of the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck.

Since 1996 he has been a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . Here he has been a member of the board of the SPD parliamentary group since 1996 and is also chairman of the working group for labor, social affairs and health .

Wolfgang Baasch always entered the state parliament as a directly elected member of the constituency of Lübeck-Mitte (1996 and 2000) and Lübeck-Süd (2005, 2009). In the early state elections in 2009 , he received 34.5% of the first votes . In the early state elections in 2012 , he was directly elected with 42.1% of the first votes in the Lübeck-West constituency. In the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2017 , he prevailed again in constituency 33 Lübeck-Süd with 36.4% against the CDU direct candidate Anette Röttger (30.3%). On September 1, 2017, however, Röttger replaced the late MP Axel Bernstein on the state list and thus also became a MP. Baasch is also chairman of the European Committee.

Wolfgang Baasch was a member of the Supervisory Board of VfB Lübeck from 2010 to 2011 .
