Wolfgang Beck (publisher)

Wolfgang Beck (born September 29, 1941 in Munich ) is a German publisher . Alongside his brother Hans Dieter Beck, he is one of the two shareholders of the CH Beck publishing group and was responsible for the cultural studies publishing program in the company. On February 1, 2015, he handed over responsibility for the program to his son Jonathan .

Wolfgang Beck studied German, philosophy and sociology at the Universities of Göttingen and Santa Barbara . In 1972 he joined the CH Beck publishing house as a partner, where he heads the cultural, historical and literary areas.

Beck is holder of the medal bene merenti of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences (1996) and the Federal Cross of Merit (2002); In 2005 he received an honorary doctorate from the Philosophical Faculty of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and in 2012 the medal Munich shines from the city of Munich. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Bavarian History at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Wolfgang Beck is married and lives in Munich . He has four children from two marriages.
