Wolfgang Dihlmann

Wolfgang Dihlmann (born July 1, 1928 in Stettin ; † October 3, 2013 in Hamburg ) was a German radiologist . He was considered one of the leading skeletal radiologists in Germany.

Life

Dihlmann was born on July 1, 1928 in Stettin. After serving in the war and being a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union, he studied medicine in Greifswald , Halle an der Saale and Jena . At first he worked in biochemistry, but then switched to radiology and in 1959 he became senior physician and head of the X-ray department at the Charité . In the same year Dihlmann left the GDR with his family and began in Aachen , initially at the Landesbad Rheumatism Clinic and from 1967 at the RWTH Aachen University Hospitalto work in radiology. Here he completed his habilitation and was appointed professor in 1971. In 1974 he took over the management of the Department of Radiology at the General Hospital Barmbek , which he held until 1993. He then worked privately as a resident radiologist in a group practice. Dihlmann was a founding member of the North German Radiological Society and was its chairman from 1976 to 1977. Dihlmann wrote 7 specialist books and more than 300 scientific publications.
