Wolfgang Ernst von Eller

Wolfgang Ernst von Eller (* 1610 in Laubach near Mettmann ; † August 4, 1680 in Pyrmont ) was Major General in Brandenburg , Privy Council of War and Governor of Minden , Landdrost in Ravensberg and Governor of Sparrenberg .

Life

His parents were the heir to Laubach Jobst Hermann von Eller and his wife Dorothea, née von Wulffen .

Military career

In 1644 he was Rittmeister in the "Burgsdorff" regiment. When Colonel Konrad von Burgsdorff occupied the Sparrenberg Fortress on April 24, 1647 , Eller was appointed its commander and Landdorst of the County of Ravensberg . On August 22, 1647 he also occupied Herford in Westphalia, which did not want to recognize the elector . In 1655 Eller enlisted a regiment and went with it to Prussia. During the war of 1656/58 he took part in the campaigns in Prussia, Poland and Holstein, including the Battle of Warsaw . On October 8, 1658 he was appointed Major General and Privy Councilor by the Elector.

On May 27, 1669 Eller received the order to advertise a regiment . Before that he received only one company himself . On May 27, 1669 the company of 200 men on horseback was relocated from Minden to Zülichau and Crossen. During the Dutch War in 1672 he recruited a new squadron , which was disbanded after the Peace of Vossem . Eller was appointed governor of Minden on February 25, 1673. In the autumn of 1675 he recruited a regiment on horseback and was also given command of all fortresses in Minden-Ravensberg . In addition, he received on February 20, 1676 seat and vote in the government in Minden.

He was the heir of Lobach , Busteded and Callendorf. Eller died in Pyrmont on August 4, 1680.

He was married to Juliane Charlotte von Kalkum called Leuchtmar . She later became chief stewardess to Princess Radziwill . The couple had several children including:
