Wolfgang Leibnitz (* 1936 in Meerane ) is a German pianist of classical music.

Life

Leibnitz studied at the Musikhochschule in Halle , after its dissolution moved to Leipzig and in 1956 to Gerhard Puchelt , Ernst Pepping and Josef Rufer at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin-Charlottenburg . The meeting with Claudio Arrau , whose student he was for many years, was important for his further artistic development .

He has lived in Munich since 1961 . There he founded the Leonardo Trio in 1988 . Leibnitz is a partner in chamber music associations; he went on concert tours as a soloist, accompanist and chamber music partner to Europe, Saudi Arabia and South America .

His repertoire covers almost the entire spectrum of piano literature; He has made a name for himself as a Debussy and Mozart interpreter as well as a designer of romantic piano music and an interpreter of contemporary works.
