Joseph Harnest

Joseph Sepp Harnest (born June 24, 1937 in Munich ; † January 10, 1999 in Traunstein ) was a German draftsman and graphic artist . He taught free drawing, performing geometry and perspective as part of his professorship at the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim .

Sepp Harnest was born as the son of the painter Fritz Harnest and his wife Gertrud Harnest (née Ellermann) in Munich and grew up overseas on the Chiemsee , where he lived until his death. From the age of 3 he was already active in drawing.

He graduated from high school in 1957 at the State School Home (Oberrealschule) Marquartstein . During school time inclination to acting (drawing, painting, illustrating ), theater and music (flute and French horn).

This was followed by studying architecture at the Technical University (later TU) in Munich , which he graduated with a diploma in 1964 after an interruption as a student trainee in the state clinic construction office in Freiburg im Breisgau.

Married to Gisela Harnest (née Nuss) since 1964, their two sons Michael and Stephan were born in 1965 and 1967 .

Until 1974 active as a research assistant at the chair for free drawing and perspective at the Technical University of Munich with W. Karnapp. For this he received teaching assignments in Weihenstephan and Rosenheim. The great interest in the history of architecture and art was shown, among other things, in the execution of numerous constructions of perspective diagrams of gates and districts of the city ​​wall of Resafa in Syria, which was worked on by W. Karnapp , and the continuation and completion of the perspective with the Roman scene buildings of the theater in Miletus for Friedrich Krauss .

In 1971 he received his doctorate at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction at the Technical University in Munich with the subject of the dissertation: "The problem of constructed perspective in old German painting". (1st reporter: Josef Adolf Schmoll called Eisenwerth )

Harnest completed his habilitation in 1977 on the subject of "Stereoscopy and spherical perspective as a corrective to common central projective images". Also in the same year he received a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim in the department of interior design.
