Wolfgang Rauchfuß (born November 27, 1931 in Grüna ; † August 15, 2005 there ) was Minister for Materials Management in the GDR . He was a member of the Central Committee of the SED .

Life

The son of a working-class family completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic from 1946 to 1949 after attending primary school. He joined the FDJ in 1946 and was a full-time instructor of the FDJ regional association in Berlin in 1949/50 , after which he was a foreign trade official. In 1951 he became a member of the SED. In 1952 he attended the technical college for foreign trade and was then sales manager at the German domestic and foreign trade precision mechanics / optics. From 1957 to 1959 he was Deputy General Director of Polygraph Export and 1960 General Director of Office Machinery Export. From 1958 to 1961 he completed a distance learning course at the Berlin School of Economics.

From 1961 to 1965 he was Deputy Minister for Foreign and Internal German Trade. In March 1965 he was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Internal German Trade and a member of the GDR Council of Ministers . Since December 1965 he was deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers, since 1967 a member of the Central Committee of the SED and a member of the People's Chamber and since 1974 Minister for Materials Management and head of the Central Energy Commission at the Council of Ministers. With the resignation of the Stoph government on November 7, 1989, he resigned from government offices and was then State Secretary in the Modrow government until March 1990 . From November 8 to December 3, 1989 he was a member of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the SED. From March 1990 he was an employee of the Treuhandanstalt .

He was married and had two children.
