Wolfgang Sieler

Wolfgang Sieler (born May 31, 1930 in Leipzig ; † June 1, 2001 in Kümmersbruck ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending primary school, Sieler completed an apprenticeship as an aircraft electrician and locksmith, which he completed with the journeyman's examination. During his training, he attended the vocational schools of Messerschmitt GmbH and Maxhütte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg . He worked as a fitter at Maxhütte until 1956 and also completed a course of studies at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics , which he passed with a diploma in economics . From 1958 to 1959 he was assistant to the board of directors at Maxhütte.

Sieler was a union member and a member of IG Metall and the workers' welfare organization . From 1959 to 1961 he worked as a legal secretary at the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB). From 1961 to 1984 he was the union secretary of IG Metall in Amberg . He was also a member of the self-administration of the Federal Labor Office and a member of the supervisory board of Halberger Hütte GmbH in Brebach-Fechingen .

Sieler joined the SPD in 1950. He was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Amberg-Neumarkt-Sulbach, deputy chairman of the SPD district of Lower Bavaria-Upper Palatinate and a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Bavaria .

From 1976 to 1990 he was a member of the German Bundestag . He was always elected via the state list of the SPD Bavaria. In Parliament he was a member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs from 1976 to September 1981 and then a member of the Budget Committee until 1990. From 1987 to 1990 he was also a member of the Audit Committee.
