Wolfgang Weber (General)
Wolfgang Weber (born September 4, 1929 in Dresden ; † December 21, 2007 in Strausberg ) was a major general (dR) of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic .
Life and career
Weber trained as a machine fitter from 1945 to 1948. In 1946 he became a member of the KPD / SED . From 1948 to 1949 he was a clerk in the criminal investigation department, from 1949 to 1950 he was a cursant in Torgau, then from 1950 to 1952 deputy. Commander for political work or party secretary in the VP offices in Pirna and Grossenhain. From 1953 to 1955 he was first an instructor, then chairman of the Party Control Commission (PKK) of the SED in the administration of the aeroclubs in Cottbus, the predecessor organization of the LSK / LV command . 1955/1956 he studied at the military-political "Lenin Academy" of the USSR in Moscow.
Service in the NVA
After the formation of the NVA he was an investigative officer for party proceedings at the PKK in the LSK / LV command from 1956 to 1960 . Because of his unyielding attitude in so-called "SED party order procedures", but especially in the prosecution of violations of the SED statute and "party instructions", he was given the nickname " gray eminence " behind closed doors among comrades .
In 1960 he was elected chairman of the PKK 's 3rd Air Defense Division and held this prominent party function until 1961. From 1961 to 1962 he was chairman of the PKK special objects of the LSK / LV, finally from 1962 to 1986 as chairman of the PKK 's political administration in the LSK / LV command , most recently as a colonel .
