Wolfram Beyer (born November 6, 1954 in Berlin ) is a German political scientist , pacifist , author and musician .

Life

Beyer studied political science at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin with Ossip K. Flechtheim , Johannes Agnoli , Theodor Ebert and Ekkehart Krippendorff . In 1978 he did a traineeship in the Brussels office of War Resisters' International (WRI). In the mid-1970s he gained his first experience with nonviolent actions and got in touch with the magazine Graswurzelrevolution and later belonged to the editorial team of the magazine Graswurzelrevolution (GWR). In 1979 he was the Federal German coordinator of the international disarmament drive Brussels-Warsaw (4th International Nonviolent March for Demilitarization). 1979/80 Beyer was a member of the editorial collective of the magazine Antimilitarismus-Information (ami) and from 1988 to 1992 he was on the board of WRI. Since 1978 he has been involved in the International of War Resisters 'International (IDK) and has published numerous articles on the subjects of conscientious objection , anarchism and the history of War Resisters' International. For the IDK he was responsible as editor of IDK publications and IDK periodicals (Antimilitaristischer Informationsdienst (AID) and IDK series of publications). Between 1995 and 2015, Beyer's thematic focus was secular humanism and pacifism. In 2000 he was the editor of a collection of texts for the Humanist Association of Germany (Landesverband Berlin) and the IDK. He was a member of the HVD and the International Federation of Non-Denominational and Atheists . Since around 2008, when the Carl von Ossietzky Medal was awarded, he has been increasingly committed to human and civil rights. He supported the work of the International League for Human Rights (ILMR eV), for example as a musician in the Metaphone ensemble on the occasion of the award of the Carl von Ossietzky Medal in 2016.

Since the late 1980s Beyer played in various music ensembles. (Fromage Diatonique, KlezMischpoche, I Felici) With Fromage Diatonique a CD was created. Beyer played various woodwind instruments (recorders, shawm (Pommer), Bb clarinet and tenor saxophone) in the fields of early music, folk, dance and swing music and also symphonic wind music in the wind orchestra.

During his employment , Beyer worked in the areas of social work and was active in refugee aid, advice and support for asylum seekers, then as deputy administrative manager in a hospital for geriatric psychiatry and later in the care of mentally handicapped people. In the area of ​​community-oriented social work, with a focus on public relations, he worked as the editor in charge for a district newspaper in Berlin-Reinickendorf.
