Wolfram Jäger (born April 19, 1951 in Meißen ) is a German civil engineer and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1969 with a simultaneous skilled worker qualification as a bricklayer, Jäger studied civil engineering from 1969 to 1973 at the TU Dresden with a specialization in structural engineering , which he completed with a diploma in 1973. This was immediately followed by a research degree in the field of structural mechanics.

From 1976 to 1980 Jäger worked as an assistant at the Chair of Structural Mechanics for Rod Structures and Structural Optimization. During this time he received his doctorate there in 1977 as well as additional studies at the Moscow Building School (MISI) in 1979/1980.

From 1980 to 1984 he worked as a test engineer ; from 1984 to 1990 he was employed as a volunteer test engineer by the state building supervision of the Dresden-Land district . In 1884/1985 he was director of production at VEB (K) Bau Radebeul. In 1986 he was headed the IT department at the Institute for Concrete Research at the GDR Building Academy . At the same time, from 1983 to 1990 he was a lecturer for statics of the rod structures at the Dresden Technical University.

After the fall of the Wall in 1990, Jäger worked as a self-employed engineer. In the period between 1992 and 1999 there were various teaching assignments at the TU Dresden and at the University of Bremen . On the latter he was appointed professor for statics for the academic year 1996/1997. This was followed in the following year by the professorship for building construction at the University of Technology, Economics and Social Work in Zittau / Görlitz .

Jäger has been Professor of Structural Planning at the Institute for Fundamentals of Design and Representation in the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Dresden since 1998.

Jäger is the author of numerous specialist publications. In addition, he is the editor of the Masonry Calendar , an annual compendium similar to the concrete calendar , and was editor-in-chief of Mauerwerk , a bimonthly magazine for technology and architecture , from January 2009 to August 2019 . In 2011 he was honored with a commemorative publication for the u. a .: Wolfgang Brameshuber , Manfred Curbach , Carl-Alexander Graubner , Manfred Hegger , Wolfgang Kaliske, Rolf Katzenbach , Karl-Eugen Kurrer , Konstantin Meskouris , Karl Morgen , Dirk Proske, Werner Seim and Werner Sobek contributed.

Jäger lives in Radebeul.

Renovation of Steinort Castle

Wolfram Jäger played a key role in the renovation work on Steinort Castle in East Prussia .
