Wolrad Burchardi

Wolrad Burchardi (also Wilrad ; born August 22, 1734 in Niederaula , † July 25, 1793 in Herborn ) was a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

Burchardi was the son of Niederaula Dietrich Friedrich Burchardi's bailiff. He initially received private lessons in German, Latin and Greek before he went to high school in Hersfeld in 1744 . From there he moved in 1750 to study philosophy, history and law at the University of Marburg . There he passed the lawyer exam in 1753, before studying as Lic. Iur. completed. He began his professional career as a lawyer and also lectured at the local university as a private lecturer .

Burchardi received on May 17, 1755 a call as second professor of rights at the high school Herborn . It was not until March 11, 1757 that he finished his lectures in Marburg and then gave his inaugural lecture at the high school in Herborn. In 1759 the Literary Society of Duisburg accepted him as a member. On April 9, 1766, he was promoted to the first professor at the high school, he was also a university syndicus and university archivist. In the years 1763 to 1765 and 1779 to 1781 he held the post of rector of the high school.

Burchardi was appointed Councilor of Orange-Nassau in 1784 and, shortly thereafter, in 1785, Chief Councilor . He died unexpectedly of a stroke .
