Fred Rogers was an American television presenter, musician, puppeteer and producer, best known as the lead actor and author of the children's series Mister Rogers' Neighborhood . On May 1, 1969, Rogers had to testify before the Senate to secure funding for his series. Rogers shared what he wanted to achieve with the series and performed a song to convince Senator John O. Pastore to give $ 20 million to the public broadcasting service and media. Pastore had never seen the program, but was overwhelmed by what it said. Fred Rogers' speech is considered one of the most iconic moments in the history of public media.
