One year after the completion of the Tay Bridge, Wormit received its own train station. However, this was not on the main line leading over the bridge, but marked the beginning of a branch line to Newport-on-Tay ( Newport Railway ). In 1955 a train derailed in Wormit. People died in the accident. The operation of the line has meanwhile been stopped. The Wormit station building was moved to the Bo'ness museum station in the 1980s .
