Location of Worphausen in Lower Saxony

Worphausen ( Low German Worphusen ) is a district of the Lower Saxon community Lilienthal in the Osterholz district in Lower Saxony . It is located around seven kilometers northeast of Lilienthal and around 20 kilometers northeast of Bremen .

Village founder

Jürgen Christian Findorff founded eight villages from 1763, which have formed what is now Worphausen since 1937. He started with Lüningsee and ended in 1808 with Neumooringen.

history

Worphausen was founded in 1764 and at the end of the 1780s had 77 residents in 16 houses, including 45 children.

On April 1, 1929, the then independent villages, which the district president in Stade described in a letter dated August 17, 1925 alongside other villages as "dwarf communities" , were merged as follows by a resolution of the district committee of the Osterholz district on January 19, 1928: Mooringen and Neu Mooringen to the municipality of Mooringen, Schrötersdorf and Worphausen to the municipality of Worphausen and Lüninghausen , Lüningsee and Westerwede to the municipality of Westerwede. Only the end of the moor remains independent.

The next regional reform took place just eight years later . Here, too, it was about the formation of “efficient” municipalities. The district - represented by the deputy district administrator, government councilor Dr. Ender - after approval by the President of the Province of Hanover, submits the proposal on December 10, 1936, to merge the four municipalities formed in 1929 to form the new municipality of Worphausen. The historic meeting on January 18, 1937 in “Kück's Gastwirtschaft” in Grasberg lasted only 45 minutes. The proposal was accepted and at the end of the meeting accepted by the four mayors at the time with a declaration of consent. Only the question of a new central school was raised. It was pointed out that this could only be discussed further after the formation of the new congregation. After the formation of the "large community", Worphausen had around 1100 inhabitants.

1974 is the next decisive year in the history of Worphausen. Together with the communities of Heidberg, St. Jürgen and Seebergen, Worphausen was incorporated into the community of Lilienthal on March 1st . The population of the enlarged community was around 15,500. A possible incorporation into Grasberg and Worpswede was also under discussion. Even a division of the parish of Worphausen according to the three parishes was under discussion.

Worphausen is about the same size as Lilienthal and belongs to three different parishes (Grasberg, Lilienthal and Worpswede). The telephone numbers of Worphausen are also assigned to Lilienthal (04298), to Worpswede (04792) and to Grasberg (04208).

Residents

Lilienthal has a total of 19,248 (as of August 21, 2007) inhabitants, 2478 of whom live in Worphausen. Worphausen is the largest district in Lilienthal in terms of population and the second largest in terms of area.

schools

The construction of a new school was discussed as early as 1937 when the new community of Worphausen was formed. In the 1950s this goal was re-aimed. Until the summer vacation of 1962, each of the small communities had its own single-class school. Then a central school was built in Lüninghausen, which was inaugurated on June 19, 1962. It was initially a primary and secondary school, later the Worphausen primary school was created.

societies

In addition to the volunteer fire brigade founded in 1942, there are several associations in Worphausen: TSV Worphausen (founded in 1949), Schützenverein Worphausen e. V., (founded 1954), theater group "De Worphüser" (founded 1968), Oll'n Handwarker ut Worphusen un annere Dbody (founded 1973), Worphüser Heimotfrünn (founded 1977), school association (founded 1993), Freundeskreis Kindergarten Worphausen (founded 2001) u. a.
