history
In the course of today's Falkenberger Landstrasse, a first dike is said to have been built before 1000 AD, referred to in documents as Antiqua Sidewendige . Until the Reformation , Falkenberg belonged to the extensive land holdings of the Cistercian convent of Lilienthal, which was founded in 1232 . After the Reformation took over, the monastery initially remained. It was not until 1630 that the nuns moved to Bremen. After the monastery office was established under Swedish sovereignty in 1650, the farmers were able to establish new settler positions.
