Xiaoliang Sunney Xie
Xiaoliang Sunney Xie ( Chinese 謝曉亮 / 谢晓亮 , Pinyin Xiè Xiǎoliàng , * 1962 in Beijing , China ) is a biochemist and professor of chemistry and chemical biology at Harvard University . Xie is considered to be one of the founding fathers of the biophysical chemistry of single molecules , especially single molecule enzymology . He made decisive contributions to CARS microscopy.
Live and act
Xie received the B. Sc. in chemistry from Peking University and received her PhD from the University of California at San Diego in 1990 . He did research as a postdoc at the University of Chicago and went to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 1992 , where he later took the position of Chief Scientist. In 1999 he received a professorship in chemistry and chemical biology at Harvard University.
Xie was one of the first scientists to investigate the fluorescence of individual molecules at room temperature in the early 1990s . Since then, his working group has contributed to the emergence of the single molecule research area and its applications in biology. Research focuses on single-molecule enzymology, the conformational dynamics of proteins and the single-molecule dynamics in living cells.
