Zhu Xiaoxiang ( Chinese  朱晓香 , Pinyin Zhū Xiǎoxiāng * 12. December 1984 in Hunan , Changsha , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese aerospace engineer , Geodätin and university professor for signal processing in the Earth observation at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

Zhu studied aerospace engineering in Changsha from 2002 to 2006 , where she received her Bachelor of Engineering . She then went on to study Earth Oriented Space Science and Technology (ESPACE) at the Technical University of Munich and received her Master of Science in 2008 . Three years Zhu was following a research assistant at the Department of methodology of remote sensing until 2011 at the International Graduate School of Science and Engineering at the TUM for Doktoringenieur on Synthetic Aperture Radar doctorate . In 2013 he completed his habilitation in the field of signal processing . In the meantime, she worked as a visiting scholar at the Istituto per il rilevamento elettromagnetico dell'ambiente des Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Italy (2009), at the Fudan University in Shanghai (2014) and the University of Tokyo (2015).

After as since December 2013 lecturer taught at the Technical University of Munich followed in June 2015 followed the call to the newly established Department of Signal Processing in Earth observation.

Zhu has headed the Munich Aerospace research group SparsEO (" Sparse Reconstruction and Compressive Sensing for Remote Sensing and Earth Observation ") since 2011 . Moreover, in 2013 she became head of the research group "Signal Analysis" at the German Center for Aerospace (DLR) and the Helmholtz -Hochschulnachwuchsgruppe SiPEO ( " Signal Processing in Earth Observation ") at DLR and the Technical University of Munich. Since 2018 she has also headed the "EO Data Science" department at the DLR's Remote Sensing Technology Institute.

Zhu's research area is signal processing in the field of earth observation . In particular, she develops algorithms to obtain geographic information from satellite data, which are used, for example, to record natural hazards or to map cities.

She is a member of the Society of German Professors of Chinese Origin and of the Young College of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences since March 2016 and of the Young Academy since May of the same year .
